Home compostable or commercial compostable produce bags for vegetable and fruit purchase in stores and supermarket. Available in rolls and loose for dispenser. Use in check out area for textiles and for other kinds of fast single use wrapping. Compostable bags are relevant for food packaging as the bags can be discarded along with the foods and scraps, some of which might already be too old for consum. The plastic equivalent bag or packaging must be sorted away from the food along with traditional plastics but is rarely recycled into new products due to food contamination, mix of plastic materials and quality of the plastic. Also, compostable bags and packaging helps sorting food waste correctly – both Danish and Italian studies show this. Recently studies showing longer shelf life for vegetables are beginning to show, e.g. for pepper and cucumber. At Maistic we have noticed this also, e.g. for radiches. Maistic produce many types of compostable bags. The most popular material is the Maistic 2.gen biomaterial, which is home compostable and includes the compostable and biodegradable bioplastic PHA made from plant leftovers and food scraps. Yet other materials are available. Bags can be made in individual designs, thicknesses, colors, with print, on rolls or packed individually with perforation for ripping. Please ask for packaging options, FSC® available. Compostable bags are available for tenders, both private tenders and municipal – please contact the Sales Department.

Please note: For thin certified compostable products like gloves and bags Maistic recommend production every six month due to the natural biodegration of the product. Ask for details and recommendations for the different materials available.

Compostability is the new

ECOLOGICAL WAVE

Traditional petro-based plastics are thousands of years in the decompose process and add chemicals that harm nature, animals and you.

All MAISTIC® certified compostable products are free of chemicals such as phthalates, bisphenols and heavy metals. So it makes sense to pack your food in MAISTIC rather than plastic - both for you at home, for the restaurant industry and for the food industry. It looks like plastic - but is MAISTIC
